The most common question we get before a job is some version of "will you actually take this?" Usually the answer is yes. This page is the honest list, so you can check before you call instead of after we arrive.

Furniture and household

Couches, sectionals, recliners, dining sets, bed frames, dressers, wardrobes, desks, bookcases, rugs, lamps, mirrors, filing cabinets, exercise equipment, pianos, gun safes, and the boxes in the basement nobody has opened since the move.

The awkward pieces are the ones people worry about — a sleeper sofa that will not turn at the bottom of the stairs, a treadmill on the second floor, an upright piano. Those are normal jobs. Appliances and electronics

Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves and ranges, microwaves, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners and window units, dehumidifiers, televisions, monitors, computers, printers, and stereo equipment.

Mattresses and bedding

Mattresses, box springs, bed frames, futons, and cribs. Most Metro Detroit curbside programs either will not take a mattress or make you wrap and schedule it, which is why this is one of the most-searched items in the category. Outdoor, garage and yard

Hot tubs and spas, above-ground pools, sheds, swing sets, trampolines, decking, fencing, patio furniture, grills, lawn mowers, snow blowers, bicycles, tires, scrap metal, brush, branches and yard waste.

Hot tubs, sheds and decks usually need to come apart before they can leave — that is demolition plus hauling in the same visit, and we do both. See hot tub, shed and deck removal.

Construction and renovation debris

Drywall, plaster and lath, lumber, flooring, carpet and padding, tile, subfloor, cabinets, countertops, doors, windows, trim, roofing material, insulation, and general demolition debris.

Heavy inert material — concrete, brick, block, stone, and rubble — is a different job from a general mixed load, because weight rather than volume drives it. We take it, but tell us up front so the right container turns up. Details on concrete, brick and rubble removal.

For bigger renovation work, a dumpster with our crew loading it usually beats repeat truck loads.

Whole properties and commercial

Estate contents, hoarder cleanouts, foreclosure and eviction clears, rental turnovers, garage and basement cleanouts, storage units, office furniture and cubicle panels, shop fixtures, shelving, pallets, and full facility clear-outs.

Scale is rarely the problem. Our largest single project cleared a 6,000 square foot former hospital with more than 300 cubic yards hauled out.

What we can't take

This list is short, and it is short for a reason — these have separate legal disposal routes and cannot ride on a general junk truck:

• Wet paint, stains, solvents and thinners

• Motor oil, fuel, antifreeze and other automotive fluids

• Pesticides, herbicides and pool chemicals

• Propane tanks and pressurised cylinders

• Asbestos-containing material — a real possibility in plaster, pipe wrap, popcorn ceilings and old floor tile in pre-1980 buildings

• Medical, biohazard and sharps waste

• Ammunition, explosives and flares

If you turn something up mid-cleanout and are not sure what it is, stop and ask us. Several Metro Detroit municipalities and Oakland and Macomb counties run household hazardous waste drop-off days, and we will point you toward the right one. We will still take everything else in the same visit — one item on this list does not cancel the job.

Pricing comes down to volume, weight, and how difficult the carry is — a packed basement behind a turning stairway is a different job from a garage that opens onto the drive. You get a range on the phone and a firm number on site before anything moves.

FAQ

Do you take mattresses? Yes, including box springs and frames. Most curbside programs here will not, which is why people ask.

Will you take a refrigerator or freezer? Yes. Sealed refrigerant appliances have their own disposal routing and we handle that side of it.

Can you take concrete, brick or dirt? Yes, but tell us before we arrive. Heavy inert loads are priced on weight rather than volume and often need a different container.

What happens if you find asbestos or paint during a cleanout? We stop on that item and tell you. It cannot go on the truck, and we will point you to the right disposal route. Everything else still goes in the same visit.

Do I have to sort or move anything before you come? No. Full service means we do the carrying, the stairs, and the loading. Flag anything you want kept and we work around it.
